Cystic Fibrosis Nurse Practitioner
The Division of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Medical College of Wisconsin has a position available for a full-time Cystic Fibrosis Nurse Practitioner to join its well-established Cystic Fibrosis Program. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of a collegial academic medical center and work in an established Cystic Fibrosis Program at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in nursing with a specialty focus in either pediatrics or Family Practice. Qualified candidates must have RN licensure in Wisconsin, Certification in Advanced Practice Nursing and licensed Advanced Practice Nurse prescriber is also required.
Responsibilities of the Nurse Practitioner will include direct patient care, including routine check-ups, hospital follow-ups, and sick visits of cystic fibrosis patients. The position also includes an active role in patient and family education, case coordination, program coordination and development, oversight of the center’s CF newborn screening program, and participation in clinical research activities.
The Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine is committed to excellent patient care, teaching, and research. Our accredited CF Center provides comprehensive care for approximately 200 CF patients of which approximately one-third are adult patients. Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin has excellent clinical and nutritional outcomes, a well-established family education program and active quality improvement projects.
Division staff members include ten physicians, pulmonary nurses, and research coordinators, as well as excellent nutritional, respiratory therapy, and social service support. We have an active pediatric pulmonary fellowship program with 1-2 fellows per year.
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin has recently undergone extensive expansion and renovation of its physical plant. Highlights include the opening of a brand new 12-story inpatient tower in April 2009; the hospital has 296 inpatient beds. More than 70 specialty clinics provide outpatient diagnosis and treatment for a wide variety of pediatric disorders. The CF program has a strong relationship with the GI, Endocrinology and ENT programs.
