Job Description
The Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Inpatient Developmental Program provides comprehensive assessment and services to infants and parents in the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Intensive Care Nurseries. The Infant Development Specialist helps parents understand their babies' cues and supports the process of attachment while in the NICU. Services include developmentally and behaviorally focused intervention which are individualized and age specific. The role includes collaboration with families and the broader multidisciplinary team to create a developmental milieu in the NICU. Strategies are based on relationship based care, an appreciation of overwhelming sensory input and procedures on the developing brain, the importance of positive touch and the significance of parental attachment. The Infant Development Specialist guides the team with specific infant discharge planning needs. This role is an exempt position.
