Hello Colorado NAPNAP members!
I hope you have enjoyed your summer, family vacations, days at the pool, camping and hiking in the mountains over the summer months. As it’s still 100 degrees outside, and kids start hopping on buses to go back to school and fall weather will be setting in. I’m looking forward to cooler weather and meeting with colleagues as we plan another year of chapter events such as upcoming educational conferences, informative dinner gatherings, fun events like NP Night Out, and providing support to each other in our PNP community.
I would like to challenge our board and all of our members to be more actively involved in our chapter this year, to bring up new ideas and help plan new opportunities for our chapter to move forward with new projects this year. I would love to see our chapter get more involved with our members one on one and with the children in our community through service projects.
I would like to offer a warm welcome to our 7 new board members who have volunteered to actively plan our educational events. We have 3 new members Lisa (Chair), Holly, and Rebecca, which round out the Education Committee with returning member Dawn. Helping keep us informed on legislative matters, our new Legislative Chair, Sarah has joined us. Providing guidance on immunization updates, Susan, has come on board. And last but not least our president elect Lysa Erkenbrack will be making the trek from Grand Junction to join us. Of course I want to thank each and every one of our returning board members as well – welcome back! I’m excited we have a full board to kick off the 2013-2014 year!
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Kirstin Cox. I’ve volunteered on the board 7 of the last 13 years with Colorado NAPNAP and I enjoy being actively involved with our board and members. I’ve worked in the Denver area as a PNP for over 11 years and currently at a private pediatric practice and in Urgent Care at the Children’s Hospital Colorado. One of my many interests includes breastfeeding promotion as a certified
lactation consultant. In my free time, I enjoy hiking with my dog, skiing, and visit my family in Wisconsin. As we move into a new year, I look forward to representing our members and our chapter in my new role as president. I plan to work hard to bring our chapter members closer together, with networking, and getting more involved within our community.
Our first Board Meeting is coming up on Monday September 9, 2013 at 6:30pm-8:30pm. We plan to meet on the following dates: November 11, January 13, February 10, March 3, and June 9th for the board switch off. Members are always welcome to join us for the meetings, so I hope you can join us. Please RSVP on our website as the event reminder comes up soon. Hope to see you there!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, feedback, comments, suggestions, announcements, important issues, or job postings etc. I look forward to meeting you and seeing many of you again soon!
