Member update about Vicki Erickson, PhD - memorial service and scholarship fund
Many members may have heard about the recent passing of our member, friend, colleague and mentor, Vicki Erickson, PhD, Professor Emeriti at the CU College of Nursing. In the spring of 2017, Vicki was diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian cancer 6 months after she retired from CU. She fought a valiant battle, but succumbed on 9/11/18.
There will be a gathering to celebrate Vicki’s life on November 11, 2018 at The Den at the Fox Hollow golf course between 2 - 5pm. The address is 13410 West Morrison Road in Lakewood.
Vicki joined the CU College of Nursing in 1987 and served as the specialty coordinator for the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program from 1990-2007, and also the Director of the MS and DNP programs from 2006-2014. She dedicated her life to the care of children and to creating the PNP workforce of the next generation. Many of our members were her students and while she was overseeing the program, national rankings rose to #1 for a time, as reported by US News and World Report.
Vicki practiced what she preached. She was a leader in faculty practice, creating clinics (literally) from small and unusual places. She provided care to children in primary care clinics, youth corrections, and women’s shelters. She was part of the team at Sheridan Health Services School Based Health Center from its inception until her retirement in June 2016.
To honor Vicki’s memory, the College of Nursing has set up a Scholarship Fund in her name to support pediatric APRN students. Here is a link to the fund to donate:
