I want to welcome all of our members to 2013! I hope your recent holidays involved good times spent with family and friends. The past year of 2012 was another great year for our Chapter and we hope to have an even better one this year.

We were able to have two Chapter meetings over the past four months, which involved participation from both board members and non-board members. We had a good turn out at both meetings and hope to see even more present at our next meeting on March 11, 2013 at 6:30 pm at the Ronald McDonald House in Denver. Meeting minutes are always posted on our website under the “Bylaws & Meeting Minutes” heading on the left hand side of the main page.

We have 169 website members, many of which are also active paid Chapter members. If your friends or co-workers have not yet become website members or active paid Chapter members, please encourage them to check our website out and join our organization. Whether a person is a website member or not, they can get access to the National NAPNAP website membership application from our site. This is the only way for members to join our organization. When applying as a member to National NAPNAP, the member is asked to choose a State Chapter. Members of our website are able to get the most up-to-date information from our Chapter, including: announcements/news, pediatric healthcare updates, event postings (both internal to our Chapter and external from other healthcare organizations), and event invites. Our recent asthma dinner event, on December 5, 2012 at Elway’s in Cherry Creek, was posted with the invite on our site and the seats were filled very quickly. Don’t let your friends and co-workers miss out on these events!

Our Chapter has not sent out a Salary Survey to the local PNPs since 2003-2004. Therefore we have decided it is time to send out a new updated survey this year. We will be sending this out via email in the next couple of weeks. We would greatly appreciate 5 minutes of your time in filling out our survey when it is received. The results are very useful in both your current and future professional NP settings.

We are excited to announce our 3rd Annual Pediatric Advanced Practice Conference at Children’s Hospital on April 29th and 30th. The brochure and invite are coming soon.

Don’t forget about the National NAPANP Conference in Orlando Florida on the week of April 15th – 20th. Our president elect and I will be attending and hope to see many of you there.

One of our most favorite events of the year, NAPNAP PNP Night Out is happening once again this year on April 11th at Red Rocks Amphitheater. We had the largest turnout since we started this event last year! We are hoping to have an even bigger turn out this year. Please come to mingle, network, eat, and drink with many other

PNPs from the area. The brochure and invite are also coming soon. At this event we will be proud to announce our annual award winners including: Fellow of the Year, Physician of the Year, Pioneer of the Year, and the Friend of Children award. We will also be presenting our 2013 Chapter donation to the non-profit charity winner, which was voted on by the board. This years charity winner is Restore Innocence of Colorado Springs. You can learn more about this organization by visiting their website at:

http://www.restoreinnocence.org/about

“Restore Innocence is a faith-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child trafficking. Because of the lack of aftercare facilities specific to victims of domestic minor sex trafficking in the United States, Restore Innocence seeks to open a safe house, The Cinderella House, where victims can find true restoration.”

Up until now, I have had a great year as the president of the 30 year-old Colorado Rocky Mountain Chapter of NAPNAP. Thanks for the warm welcoming into your group as brand new Denverite! Hope to see you all at one of our upcoming events!!

Sincerely,

Janel P. Saunders, CPNP
